Get to know Dentist Dr. Claudia P. Piccolo, who serves patients in Chicago, Illinois.

Certified in facial pain and esthetics, Dr. Piccolo provides the following services: cosmetic dentistry, porcelain restorations, root canals, dental implants, gum bone and teeth surgery, invisible teeth alignment, Invisalign, fixed and removable dentures, preventative and cosmetic treatments for kids, orofacial pain-TMJ therapy, minor tooth movement, as well as cosmetic and therapeutic botox and fillers. She also specializes in smile design, which incorporates fillers and botox for a more pleasing overall smile appearance.

In the early days of her career, back in 1993, she served as a dentist in the National Army in Columbia, her homeland, which entailed working nationally and internationally in community organizations helping the less fortunate. She also spent four years of her career in Bogotá, where she served in private and government dental practices.

After relocating to the United States, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. She then went on to complete a three-year fellowship in dental implants. 

In addition to having managed several dental offices in the ChicagoLand area, she has worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as has directed the Spanish Course for Dental Professionals through the Hispanic Student Dental Association.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. Piccolo is a member of the major dental associations in the country, including the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, among others.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

Attributing her success to always striving for excellence and caring for the patient’s general well-being, Dr. Piccolo’s philosophy is to provide care that will be in the patient’s best interest now and in the years to come, so that they can have a smile that will last a lifetime.

When not practicing dentistry, she participates in community outreach, educating the members of the community and nursing home residents about good dental hygiene. She also enjoys yoga and crafts. Her favorite professional publication is the Journal of the American Dental Association.
