In addition to her practice work with Orlando Health Physician Associates, Dr. Thielhelm is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Florida State University College of Medicine. The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1990 when she earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. She realized her passion and love for pediatrics during her third year medical school rotations because of the children and the kindness of the pediatricians she encountered. She then went on to complete her residency in pediatrics at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where she served as Co-Chief Resident during her third year.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she is a member of the American Medical Association and on the board of the Central Florida Pediatric Society. She is also board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), which is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Founded in 1933, the ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. Certification by the ABP has one objective, to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. As a pediatrician, Dr. Thielhelm provides medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. She is trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
Outside of the office, Dr. Thielhelm enjoys running, staying fit, and spending time with family, friends, and her two dogs. She is a board member of The Clive Foundation, on the board of The Gift of Swimming, as well as serves as an Elder in her church.
She attributes her successful career to having an amazing and caring team of partners, as well as a supportive family. She is also grateful for the trust of her patients and their families.
