Get to know Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Riad I. Homsi, who serves the Memphis, Tennessee area at Just for Women. Dr. Homsi complete his undergraduate degree from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Wanting to continue his education he then graduated with a Medical Degree from his Alma Mater. He began his postdoctoral training at the American University of Beirut with a Speciality training in General Obstetrics & Gynecology. He then relocated the the United States where he completed his training with the Union Memorial Hospital and Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Dr. Homsi is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He currently practices at his private practice Just for Women, and is affiliated with Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women and Children Hospital and Methodist Germantown Hospital. He served as the chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology with the Baptist Women Hospital as well as VP and recently President of the Medical staff at Baptist Hospital for Women and Children Hospital in memphis.To stay up to date in his field, he remains a professional member of the North American Menopause Society and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.He is a Certified Menopause Practitioner by the North American Menopause Society. He has been named Nurses Physician Champion for Quality at Baptist Memorial for Women in 2004, 2005, 2007,2009, 2014 and 2017. Obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYN) are physicians who possess special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system and associated disorders, enables them to serve as consultants to other physicians and as primary physicians for women. Obstetrics and gynecology is a broad and diverse branch of medicine, including surgery, management of the care of pregnant women, gynecologic care, oncology, and primary health care for women. Most OB/GYNs are generalists and see a variety of medical conditions in the office, perform surgery, and manage labor and delivery. Office practice consists of providing women with preventive examinations and other primary care and identifying gynecologic problems.
