Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Karen Desrosiers, who serves patients in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Dr. Desrosiers is a highly-regarded obstetrician-gynecologist in practice with ReConnect Health Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. From a ‘gentle’ pelvic exam to prolapse assessment, or a consult for menopause related vaginal symptoms, she takes the time to consider each patient’s comfort and allows them to ask all of their questions. 

ReConnect Health Centre offers a wide range of services including: acupuncture, pelvic floor physiotherapy, orthopaedic physiotherapy, breast health physiotherapy, psychology, massage therapy, and private gynecological services. The Centre also provides engaging workshops, therapeutic group exercise, a caring community, and more.

Embracing the academic side of her speciality, Dr. Desrosiers serves as a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University & within the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is also a physician at The Moncton Hospital – Horizon, Vitalité Health Network, and Sparkle Lifestyle & MediSpa.

A disguised Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, she is a member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, the New Brunswick Medical Society, the Canadian Menopause Society, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Academically, Dr. Desrosiers graduated with her medical degree from l’Université de Sherbrooke – La Faculté de Médecine et des Sciences de la Santé in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada in 1997. She then went on to perform her internship at the same educational venue.

Attributing her success to hard work, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. 

Besides helping women with their gynecological issues, Dr. Desrosiers likes downhill skiing, playing squash, scuba diving, reading, playing the piano, and spending quality time with her family in her free time. Her favorite professional publication is the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada.
