Dr. Douglas Backous is neurotologist, specializing in diseases of the ear and lateral skull base. His areas of focus include acoustic neruoma surgery and radiosurgery, surgery for hearing loss, treatment of otosclerosis, managemnet of chronic otiis media, and facial nerve disorders. He completed a residency Otolaryngolgy-Head and Neck Surgery where he learned to manage problems in the ears, nose, and throat then did a two-year fellowship to specialize in neurotology. He is board certified in both specialties. Besides direct care of patients, he also serves as the President of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He well known world-wide in his field. He does extensive legislative and regulatory advocacy at the state and national levels directed at ensuring patient access to ear, nose and thorat care. He is mision driven about his work and believes it is a priveledge to treat pateints who choose him for thier care.
