Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Irina Joukova, who serves patients in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Joukova is a board-certified cardiologist who is currently affiliated with Temple Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Temple Health is a major Philadelphia-based academic health system that is driving medical advances through clinical innovation, pioneering research, and world-class education. The health system’s 1,000 physicians and scientists share a common mission of bringing tomorrow’s treatments to the bedside today, helping them achieve outcomes once thought impossible. Temple Health is also an educational partner with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, providing medical education to the next generation of physicians and biomedical scientists. Dr. Joukova is also a founder and the President of Cardiology Consultants of Greater Philadelphia, PC that was established in2013, and the owner and the President of Bustleton Healthcare since 2016.

Dr. Joukova is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Designation is one of the most distinguished designations the College offers its members. Dr. Joukova is a member of the American Heart Association (AHA). The AHA is a non-profit organization in the United States that funds cardiovascular medical research, educates consumers on healthy living, and fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Dr. Joukova is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Joukova earned her medical degree from the First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow, Russia in 1981. She then went to complete her residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Joukova also completed the Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. In 1992 Dr. Joukova was honored with the Molecular Cardiology Fellowship by Merck Foundation.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmia, and lipid management. As a cardiologist, Dr. Joukova specializing in diagnosing and treating the following cardiovascular conditions: Treatment of Heart Disease in Women, Hypercholesterolemia, Coronary Artery Disease, and Valvular Heart Disease.

Dr. Joukova’s academic interests also include Echocardiography  and Nuclear Cardiology.
