His dedication to outpatient care has led him to pioneer outpatient total joint replacement, successfully performing these innovative procedures since 2013. In 2004, Dr. Loucks and his partner Dr. Robert J. Greenhow made history as one of the first surgeons in the Denver area to perform Anterior Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery (AMIS). Since then, he has performed thousands of hip replacements utilizing this technique, consistently achieving excellent outcomes for his patients. His contributions extend beyond the operating room; Dr. Loucks is an international proctor, lecturer, and teacher of advanced orthopedic techniques, sharing his expertise globally across Europe, Australia, and North America.

Not only is Dr. Loucks a skilled surgeon, but he also plays a pivotal role in advancing orthopedic technology as a design surgeon for Medacta International. He has collaborated with Dr. Robert J. Greenhow and European colleagues to develop the MyKnee system, enhancing surgical accuracy and alignment in knee replacements while utilizing less invasive approaches.

Dr. Loucks’ educational journey began in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Life Sciences Degree with honors from Queen’s University in 1993, followed by his Master of Science Degree from the same educational venue in 1995. He continued at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, where he received his Medical Degree with honors in 1998. Following his residency at the University of British Columbia School of Medicine from 1998 to 2003, Dr. Loucks enhanced his expertise with an AO trauma fellowship at St. Anthony’s Trauma Center.

Board-certified by both the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Loucks is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Canadian Orthopedic Association, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. He is also a teaching surgeon for the Colorado Hip and Knee Fellowship Program, attributing his success to ongoing education and staying at the forefront of evolving technology.
