Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Kristen Donaldson, who serves patients in Maywood, Illinois.

A board-certified emergency physician, Dr. Donaldson is in practice at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

Loyola University Medical Center is a quaternary care facility with 547 licensed beds, a Level I Trauma Center, nationally recognized Burn Center, renowned Transplant Center and a special 20-bed unit for patients undergoing stem cell transplant. The center provides top hospital care in all medical specialties, including orthopedics, nephrology, cardiology, cancer, ophthalmology and surgery.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Donaldson graduated with her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the UIC School of Public Health. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine, and completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Illinois Medical Center.

An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine  by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

With a passion for teaching, Dr. Donaldson serves as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Emergency Medicine at Loyola University.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
