Ross M. Mandeville, MD, is an established neurologist with The University of California San Diego Health in La Jolla and Hillcrest, California. He provides care for people with a variety of neurologic conditions, and has a special interest in neuromuscular diseases, as well as peripheral nerve and spinal cord injuries. Dr. Mandeville co-directs the paralysis and peripheral nerve disorders program at UC San Diego Health System. He is a part of the team of specialists that restore movement and function and improve quality of life for patients suffering from neurological injuries and conditions including nerve entrapment disorders and nerve tumors. His clinical interests include neurophysiology (the functioning of the nervous system), neurosonography, muscle biopsies, and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring reduces the risk of damage to the brain, cranial nerves, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves during certain surgeries. Dr. Mandeville is also interested in advancing and applying research in peripheral nerve regeneration to enhance the nervous systemâ??s limited capacity for repair. His efforts in translational research aim to improve the health of individuals who experience spinal cord and peripheral nerve injuries. Dr. Mandeville completed his residency in neurology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he received the resident of the year award. He completed his fellowship in neurophysiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology.
