  • How many times can a crown be replaced?

Hi, Practically a crown can be replaced indefinite number of times. The reason to replace it should be justified. If the tooth under the crown keeps getting decayed then every time its replaced, more tooth structure is removed, which can weaken the foundation of a crown. A dentist then needs to do additional procedures to salvage it. I hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Can you get an infection after a root canal?

Hi, Yes, you can. It could be due to a lot of reasons. I would recommend going to your dentist to get it evaluated. The following could be some of the reasons: 1) Not having a well sealed filling/crown on the tooth after the root canal to prevent the bacteria to leak into the tooth. 2) Reinfection of the tooth due to residual infection inside the tooth flaring up again. 3) Missed canal in the tooth while doing the root canal treatment. 4) Poor support to the tooth in the gums can lead to a gum infection. There could be many other reasons. Depending on the prognosis of the tooth, it can be retreated with a root canal treatment or extracted and replaced with an implant/bridge. Hope this helps. Stay safe and healthy. READ MORE

  • How long will I have to wait for my next session after first round of root canal?

Hi, I hope you are feeling better after the first session. Usually, when a tooth has an infection, some dentists like to wait between 1 to 3 weeks before finishing it. They usually place an intra-tooth medicament which kills the bacteria between the canal system so that the tooth will be sterile before the dentist completes the root canal treatment. To answer your question, you should be ok with the wait. Just make sure you make it to the appointment. Feel better. READ MORE

  • My front tooth got chipped at the bottom. What can be done about it?

Hi, Hope you are not in pain. You should see your dentist immediately so they can take an X-ray to find the best solution for the chipped tooth. Typically, if the chip is not too serious, it can be fixed with an Enameloplasty (reshaping of the chipped area to smoothen it) or with a filling. Regardless, you should get it checked. • Does brushing with salt help remove yellow stains from the teeth?

Hi, The only way salt can whiten your teeth would be through an abrasive action. Congratulations on the big decision to stop smoking. I am sure your dentist will be proud of you. Just consult the office for a better whitening option. You can get excellent results with in-office whitening. Have a great day. READ MORE

  • Does clove oil really work in easing tooth pain?

Clove oil is part of some temporary filling materials that can cause a soothing effect on exposed pulp (nerve) of a tooth. But clove oil by itself can be very caustic and cause chemical burn of your gums. I would suggest seeing your closest dentist to know the cause of the pain and get it treated. I hope you feel better soon. READ MORE

  • What is gingivitis and its risk factors?

Gingivitis is a term used for inflamed gums. It can be caused due to a variety of reasons. The most common being inadequate oral hygiene. Your dentist will be able to diagnose gingivitis by observing any bleeding of gums visible during a routine exam. Consult your dentist to know the cause of gingivitis and they will be able to tell you appropriate measures you will have to take to prevent it. I hope that answers your question. READ MORE

  • Is water-flossing as effective as regular flossing?

Hi, A waterpik is a very effective adjunct for oral hygiene. You can replace it with regular floss if you think it gives you better results. Its like a 'whatever works for you' situation. As long as you use it regularly you will start seeing results. Your dentist/hygienist will start noticing the healthier gums. Keep up the good work. Best, J Singh. READ MORE
