Get to know Internist Dr. David H. Franzus, who serves patients in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Dr. Franzus is an internist in private practice in Kingsport, Tennessee. One of his areas of expertise is geriatrics. Geriatrics is a specialty that focuses on health care of elderly people. It aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities in older adults.

Dr. Franzus is also affiliated with Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital – both of which are located in Kingsport. Dr. Franzus received his medical degree from East Tennessee State University – Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee in 1986. He then went on to complete his residency and internship in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Dr. Franzus is board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Franzus is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP). The ACP is a national organization of internists, the largest medical-specialty organization, and second-largest physician group in the United States. Its 154,000 members include internists, internal medicine subspecialists, medical students, residents, and fellows.

Internal medicine or general medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall wellbeing.

In his spare time, Dr. Franzus enjoys traveling, attending sports events, doing martial arts, as well as learning self-defense. He is also an avid reader and involved in bible study and mission work.
