Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Ingrid Calliste, who serves patients in Florida.

Dr. Calliste is a highly trained nephrologist at Sunshine Kidney Care, LLC serving patients in Leesburg, Clermont and The Villages, Florida.

Locally, she is affiliated with UF Health Leesburg Hospital, UF Health The Villages® Hospital, and Orlando Health South Lake Hospital.

Her acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree with honors from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She then went on to perform her internship, residency, and fellowship at NYU Langone Hospital Long Island.

A member of the American Society of Nephrology, Dr. Calliste is board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
