Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Renee Genova, who serves patients in Lakeland, Florida.

Dr. Genova is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, focusing on the treatment of various bone fractures, including periarticular fractures, pelvic and acetabulum trauma, fracture-related infections, limb deformities, revision amputations, and pathologic fractures. Her dedication to patient well-being extends to her role as the Medical Director of Orthopedic Trauma within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Lakeland Regional Health Grasslands Campus.

Her approach to patient care is marked by her unwavering commitment to both treatment and education. Dr. Genova adopts a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach to get patients back on their feet and mobile as soon as possible.

Her acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her Medical Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her orthopedic residency at the esteemed Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. Following this, she pursued specialized training in orthopedic traumatology through a fellowship at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Before her current position, Dr. Genova held a prominent role in orthopedic surgery at Integrity Spine and Orthopedics in Jacksonville, Florida. Additionally, she contributed as an assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine—Jacksonville and at UF Health Shands Hospital. 

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Genova is an esteemed member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, the Florida Medical Association, and the AO Foundation. 

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Genova has garnered widespread recognition for her outstanding contributions to the field of orthopedic surgery. In the year 2023, she received the prestigious accolade of being named the 2nd Place Best Orthopedic Surgeon in Lakeland by Haven Magazine, a testament to her exceptional skill and dedication.

Furthermore, her residency at Johns Hopkins was marked by her receiving the esteemed Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society Resident AAOS Scholarship in 2013. Her pursuit of excellence was also evident during her tenure at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where she was honored with the Student Surgery Medal: Excellence in Surgery Award in 2012. Dr. Genova’s exceptional dedication led her to achieve an impressive 2nd place in the Independent Learning Award at USC SOM in 2011. Moreover, her noteworthy achievements were acknowledged with an Honorable Mention for her presentation as a poster presenter at the SCMA event in 2010.
