Get to know Rheumatologist Dr. Dhiman Basu, who serves patients in Colleyville, Texas.

In practice since 2007, Dr. Basu is a board-certified rheumatologist who practices at Heritage Rheumatology and Arthritis Care in Colleyville, Texas. He is also affiliated with Texas Health Fort Worth, Texas Health HEB, and Medical City North Hills.

A Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR), the doctor is board-certified in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

After earning his medical degree from Calcutta National Medical College in India, Dr. Basu relocated to the United States to complete his residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.

In addition to English, Dr. Basu speaks Bengali and Hindi.
