Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Felipe F. Peterson, who serves patients in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Dr. Peterson is a respected podiatrist specializing in the treatment of the foot, ankle, and related parts of the leg. Since 2015, he has been sharpening his clinical skills under the tutelage of Dr. Kyle Kinmon, one of the greatest foot and ankle surgeons in South Florida, at Certified Foot & Ankle Specialists, LLC. at the office in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The physicians, surgeons, and staff of Certified Foot & Ankle Specialists, LLC., are dedicated to excellence in providing their patients and the community with advanced, comprehensive conservative and surgical treatment of the foot, ankle, and lower leg in a caring and compassionate environment. They hold themselves to the highest standards of continuing education and training in emerging techniques, achieving elite levels of board certification, as well as educating their patients, fellow and future physicians in the evolving field of foot and ankle surgery.

Born in Brazil, Dr. Peterson moved to the United States with his family as a young boy. He  completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from a rigorous premedical track at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, where he also acquired experience in pharmacy. He then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, where he not only excelled academically, but also spearheaded numerous community service campaigns and held multiple student leadership roles, including Treasurer for both the Florida Podiatric Medical Student Association and the Hispanic Podiatric Medical Student Association, as well as Podiatry Student Ambassador. For his many community service efforts while at Barry, he was recognized and awarded the Barron Baggett Community Scholarship.

Furthering his training, Dr. Felipe began his residency at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts, where he received intense training in internal medicine general and vascular surgery. He also gained valuable experience in intense and critical diabetic limb salvage. He went on to complete an additional residency in Larkin Palm Springs Hospital in Hialeah, Florida, where he acquired beneficial experience with trauma related surgery, reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery, and total joint replacements. While completing his residency, he was a guest lecturer for Palm Springs Hospital on several occasions, presenting on complicated topics such as charcot arthropathy, diabetic foot ulcers, and fungal infections of the lower extremity. In addition, he served as a board member for the Miami Dade Podiatric Medical Association and a Young Physician Liaison for Miami Dade County, as well as raised awareness and funds for the American Diabetic Association.

Maintaining strong ties to his family and culture while pursuing his education in the U.S. afforded Dr. Peterson the opportunity to become fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, which helps him better serve diverse patient populations. He is an active member of local churches and the communities in which he lives and works, and currently serves as the team podiatrist for the Hillsborough Community College baseball team.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association.

The American Board of Podiatric Medicine exists to offer podiatric physicians comprehensive board qualification and certification.

Not only is Dr. Peterson a well-rounded physician, but he is also a brother, a husband, and a father to a son and two dogs.
