Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Urteaga is a well-versed family physician with HealthTexas Medical Group (Highlands Clinic) in San Antonio, Texas. He creates an environment of trust and confidence for the health and well-being of his patients.

HealthTexas Medical Group was established by local physicians who recognized the need for primary care doctors to combine their passion, skills, and resources to improve the health of the patients within the local community. Since then, HealthTexas has grown to include more than 60 healthcare providers in 17 primary care clinics in and around the San Antonio region.

Born and raised in San Angelo, Texas, Dr. Urteaga completed his undergraduate studies at Baylor University, medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to become board-certified in family medicine. During his residency, he was elected to be chief of his class due to his dedication, and continued attention to improve the patient’s experience.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
