Platinum Pediatrics, a groundbreaking pediatric emergency medicine practice founded by Mark Rodkey, MD, is redefining how families access pre-emergency care for their children. Located in the heart of Boerne, Texas, Platinum Pediatrics stands out as the only facility in the area staffed by board-certified Pediatric Emergency Physicians and Nurses, committed to providing high-quality pediatric care without the exorbitant costs typically associated with emergency department visits.

Dr. Rodkey established Platinum Pediatrics with a vision to create a compassionate, accessible, and efficient healthcare model tailored to meet the needs of local families. Through a unique member-based Direct Care model, families can pay a flat monthly fee that covers all their children, encouraging proactive healthcare and reducing reliance on emergency room services.

Dr. Rodkey’s impressive credentials include a robust educational background, having earned his Undergraduate Degree from Gonzaga University and his Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. His commitment to pediatric medicine was further honed through a Pediatric Residency at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. 

Following his fellowship, Dr. Rodkey played a pivotal role as the medical director in establishing a new pediatric emergency department at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2009, he relocated to Boerne, where he directed the pediatric emergency department at Christus Santa Rosa during its transition to the standalone Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. His extensive experience also includes expanding pediatric services across multiple hospitals in Texas and Nebraska. 

With over 30 years in emergency medicine, including 15 years as a medical director and one year as a chief medical officer, Dr. Rodkey’s expertise has been instrumental in shaping the services offered at Platinum Pediatrics. The practice’s innovative model encompasses pediatric care, emergency medicine, telemedicine, and home visits, all designed to keep children healthy and out of emergency rooms.
