Get to know Interventional Nephrologist Dr. Jacques Abi Rached, who serves patients in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Dr. Abi Rached is an interventional nephrologist with more than 10 years expertise in dialysis patient management. He specializes in arteriovenous fistula and graft examination for endovascular intervention, as well as catheter placement and management for hemodialysis patients. He serves as the Medical Director of Azura Surgery Center Cherry Hill, located in New Jersey. 

At Azura Surgery Center Cherry Hill (formerly American Access Care of New Jersey), they are dedicated to providing the highest standard of dialysis access care and maintenance in a timely fashion so that patients can return to their daily life with minimal disruption to their regular dialysis schedule. Their licensed and renal-focused ambulatory surgery center offers minimally invasive vascular procedures for dialysis access care and maintenance, including fistula salvage, angioplasty, thrombectomy, thrombolysis, stenting, central venous catheter placement and more.

A native of Lebanon, Dr. Rached earned his medical degree from the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency at Staten Island University Hospital, New York. He received numerous awards during his residency including Resident Teacher of the Year and Resident of Year for Internal Medicine. After his residency, he completed a fellowship in nephrology at Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), the doctor attained board certification in nephrology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology.

In his professional experience, Dr. Abi Rached has worked as a clinician-instructor and been responsible for teaching, conducting and guiding residents and interns through invasive and lifesaving procedures like central venous line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, abdominal paracentesis, and thoracentesis. 

In addition to his physician expertise, he is a dedicated and supportive healthcare advocate who promotes patient awareness through education in the field of nephrology and dialysis access management. He has lectured extensively and remains committed to utilizing innovative, cutting edge medical technology to address dialysis access management procedures to provide patients with positive outcomes.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Abi Rached has received numerous grants and awards in the field of nephrology, including The Distinguished Achievement in Medical Research and Scholarly Activity Award from the National Kidney Foundation.

Speaking several languages, he is fluent in English, Lebanese, and French.
