A skilled obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Chisholm joined the Women’s Clinic of South Texas in 2017, and took over the practice in 2019. He is known for his calm bedside manner and down-to-earth style, and is a big advocate for patient autonomy and self-determination. His approach to medicine focuses on communication with patients, including taking time to fully listen. He aims to ensure each patient understands their diagnosis and is confident with the treatment plan.
Like his predecessor and mentor, Dr. Martinez, he shares the same philosophy that the women of the Valley deserve access to the latest advancements in medicine. He continues the same tradition of introducing advanced medical technologies to the Valley, including Laparoendoscopic Single Site Surgery (LESS) and the Remeex adjustable anti-incontinence sling. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery for uterine fibroids, bladder prolapse, incontinence, and hormone replacement therapy. He also gets great joy in practicing obstetrics and offers the full scope of prenatal care.
A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Dr. Chisholm graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2008, and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2013. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Baylor College of Medicine.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
As for his academic appointments, he teaches residents and medical students from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine at DHR. He has won two awards for outstanding contributions to resident education in Gynecology (2019) and Obstetrics (2018).
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
In his free time, Dr Chisholm enjoys woodworking, piano, and playing with his two daughters.
