Dr. Mitsuya is an experienced general surgeon who works at McLaren Lapeer Region. It is a 222-bed acute care hospital located in Lapeer, Michigan.

McLaren Lapeer Region is the primary provider of health care services to Lapeer County and the surrounding area. It has received national recognition from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for clinical excellence in orthopedics, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and surgical care. The facility maintains a verified Level II trauma designation and provides comprehensive care in a 29-bed Emergency Center along with specialized services for heart, cancer, orthopedic and general surgery services, physical medicine and rehabilitation, women’s services, wound care services, and sleep disorders.

In the early days of his academic career, Dr. Mitsuya graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital – Clinton Township.

Dedicated to clinical excellence, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
