In regards to his educational background, Dr. Berthaud earned his undergraduate degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and graduate degrees from Columbia University in New York City. He then completed medical school at Meharry Medical College where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Berthaud underwent rigorous training, completing his residency in neurology at Tulane Medical Center and a comprehensive two-year fellowship in vascular neurology at the University of Virginia.
Following the culmination of his clinical training, he became an integral part of the Department of Neurology at the University of Michigan in July 2018, relishing the opportunity to impart knowledge to medical students and mentor neurology residents and stroke fellows before ultimately relocating to Texas.
In 2022, Dr. Berthaud completed a fellowship in hospital neurology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
With unwavering dedication, Dr. Berthaud consistently strives for progress, actively participating as a member of esteemed organizations such as the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Epidemiology.
Neurohospitalist is a term used for physicians interested in inpatient neurological care. It is an emerging subspecialty of neurology and a growing branch of neurology-internal medicine cross-functional care.
Due to his outstanding breadth of knowledge, Dr. Berthaud has authored a number of publications, including “Active Learning in Psychiatry Education: Current Practices and Future Perspectives” and “Ischemic Stroke Secondary to Paradoxical Embolism Through a Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation: Case Report and Review of the Literature.”
