He serves as Chief of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Consultants in Medical Oncology and Hematology, where he operates out of the offices in Broomall, Newton Square, and Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.
In addition to being recognized as one of the region’s top community oncologists, Dr. Sprandio Sr. is a national leader in developing patient-centered care for cancer patients. His program, Oncology Patient Centered Medical Home, provides both a philosophical base and a proven system for delivering high quality care to CMOH patients, as well as a model for community and hospital based practices nationally.
His commitment to high quality cancer treatment, coordination of care, and excellent communication is the heart and soul of his practice and the OPCMH model. Dr. Sprandio Sr. writes and speaks frequently on OPCMH and healthcare issues to national audiences, as well as directs the CMOH practice.

Among his other appointments, Dr. Sprandio Sr. is the Director of the Delaware County Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Center, as well as has admitting privileges at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Springfield Hospital, Taylor Hospital, and Bryn Mawr Hospital.
As an attending physician, some of the primary conditions that he treats include adenocarcinoma, blood disorders, breast cancer, leukemia, multiple myeloma, and metastatic breast cancer. He also utilizes chemotherapy as a primary treatment when necessary.
Academically, Dr. Sprandio Sr. graduated with his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine in 1980. He then went on to perform his internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital, after which he pursued a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Following his training, he attained board certification in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Sprandio Sr. is an active member of the Pennsylvania Heart Association and the Philadelphia County Medical Society.
