Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Cyrus Wong, who serves patients in Fort Worth, Texas.

A seasoned, board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Wong works with patients at Texas Health Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists. He also serves as the Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery and Medical Director of the Spinal Deformity and Complex Spine Surgery program at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. His unique expertise in spinal surgery includes the treatment of adult spinal deformity/scoliosis, complex spinal reconstruction, spinal tumors, as well as minimally invasive spine surgery. He also treats benign and malignant brain tumors.

At Texas Health Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists, formally known as North Texas Neurosurgical and Spine Center, they know brain and spine conditions can be debilitating, severely limiting everyday life for many of those affected. Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Wong graduated with his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2008, where he played a part in the development of a novel brainstem tumor model. He completed his residency in neurosurgery and fellowship training in complex spinal surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS), the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the AANS/CNS Joint Spine Section, AO Spine, and the North American Spine Society. He has authored several chapters in widely published textbooks and presented at national and international conferences on the topic of spinal disease and its treatment.

As for his academic appointments, Dr. Wong is involved in neurosurgical teaching and research as Assistant Professor at the Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Medicine.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.
