Get to know Pediatric Ophthalmologist Dr. Lingkun Kong, who serves patients in Lubbock, Texas.

Dr. Kong joined Texas Tech Physicians of Lubbock in 2017 as a comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus specialist. She treats children with eye diseases and sees patients with strabismus in both children and adults.

Texas Tech Physicians is the medical practice of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. From routine eye exams for adults and children to the treatment of eye disease, Texas Tech Physicians of Lubbock offer a full range of eye care services and specialties. 

Professionally, Dr. Kong also serves as an Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas.

On the subject of her academic career, she holds a medical degree from Harbin Medical University in China, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from The University of Queensland in Australia. She completed a fellowship in ocular pathology at Methodist Hospital in Houston, followed by a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at UT Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas.

With over three decades of experience in her field, Dr. Kong’s main research interests are gene regulation of retinal development and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Pediatric ophthalmology is a subspecialty of ophthalmology concerned with eye diseases, visual development, and vision care in children.
