Get to know Physician Assistant Mario J. Astacio, who serves patients in Illinois.

Mario is a certified physician assistant with MarCon Medical Partners Medical Centre in Elgin, Illinois. He specializes in preventing and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of care under the supervision of a physician.

In regards to his educational background, Mario graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago. He then went on to earn his degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in 2005.

A Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) is a health care practitioner who practices medicine in collaboration with physicians.  PAs are medical professionals, educated in the medical model to complement physician training, and assist the physician in many aspects of the practice. PAs are trained to take medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and assist in surgery.

On a more personal note, Mario speaks both English and Spanish.
