Sanjay Nancherla, OD, is a proud native of San Antonio, Texas. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and subsequently earned his doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry. His clinical rotations focused on ocular disease at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas, and surgical experiences at NSUOCO in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dr. Nancherla's externships placed particular emphasis on ocular conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye, diabetes, macular degeneration, cataract assessments, emergencies, and surgical procedures, including both preoperative and postoperative care. He received training in laser techniques, including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, YAG Laser Capsulotomy, Laser Peripheral Iridotomy, and minor eyelid surgeries at Northeastern State University. Additionally, he contributed to patient care at W.W. Hastings Hospital, where he managed a diverse range of eye diseases and urgent situations. Throughout his optometry education, he actively participated in corneal research, tutoring, mentoring, and delivering scientific presentations. He was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Organization for Academic Excellence and received the Cooper Vision Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award for his outstanding achievements in contact lens-related conditions. In his leisure time, Dr. Nancherla enjoys playing basketball with friends and traveling with his family. As a new father, he cherishes the moments spent with his infant daughter. He is also an avid San Antonio Spurs fan.
