Get to know Pharmacist Dr. Victor Koros, who serves the population of Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Koros graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy from Long Island University in 2006, giving him over a decade of experience in his field. After obtaining his degree he completed his residency with the Lenox Hill Hospital, James J. Peters VA Medical Center, and the Maimonides Medical Center. To stay up to date in his field he remains a professional member of the American Pharmacists Association. Dr. Koros currently practices with The Family Drug Store where he holds an expertise in Retail and General Pharmacy. He attributes his professional success to his hard work, persistence and desire to continue to learn. Pharmaceutical medicine is the medical scientific discipline concerned with the discovery, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring and medical aspects of marketing of medicines for the benefit of patients and the health of the community. At core of the discipline is the clinical testing of medicines, translation of pharmaceutical drug research into new medicines, safety and well-being of research participants in clinical trials, and understanding the safety profile of medicines and their benefit-risk balance. In addition to expertise in the science of drug development pharmaceutical physicians need a thorough understanding of pharmacoeconomics, medical aspects of the marketing of medicines, business administration and the social impact of healthcare on patients and public health.
