Get to know Pharmacist Elena Luna, who serves patients in Jackson Heights, New York.

Elena is a pharmacist who has over 35 years of experience in her field. She is affiliated with Al Kosto Pharmacy in Jackson Heights, New York. Al Kosto Pharmacy is a part of the Arete Pharmacy Network, which serves more than 2,500 independent retail pharmacies across the United States. Arete Pharmacy Network is an independent PSAO, focused on the success and profitability of independent and community pharmacies. Elena received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in pharmacy from the University of Puerto Rico in 1984. 

Elena is a Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE). A CDE is a health professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge of and experience in diabetes prevention, prediabetes, and diabetes management. The CDE educates, supports, and advocates for people affected by diabetes, addressing the stages of diabetes throughout the lifespan. They also promote self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and optimize health outcomes.

Elena was awarded the New York State Senate Award for Hispanic Community Service. 

Elena is a member of the Pharmacists Society and the American Diabetes Association.

Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing, dispensing, and reviewing drugs and providing additional clinical services. It is a health profession that links health sciences with pharmaceutical sciences and aims to ensure the safe, effective, and affordable use of drugs. Pharmacists, also known as chemists or druggists, are health professionals who practice in pharmacy.
