Dedicated to leaving her patients with healthy smiles, Dr. MacDonald is the founder of Preston Dental Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in Little Italy, Preston Dental Centre offers patients’ numerous dental services, including family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental hygiene, orthodontics, periodontics, and emergency dental services. The dental practice employs some of the most advanced dental equipment and instrument sterilization techniques in Ottawa. 

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. MacDonald grew up in Antigonish before moving to New Glasgow for her high school education. She won many academic awards at New Glasgow High School and studied for a single year in the science program at Dalhousie before transferring to Dalhousie’s pharmacy program. She continued her academic excellence, earning her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1985.

To support herself through dental school, Dr. MacDonald worked for one year as a full-time pharmacist in Halifax and then for 4 years on a part-time basis. After graduating with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in 1990, she immediately moved to Ottawa where she has practiced since May of 1990.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. A general dentist is a primary care dental provider. They diagnose, treat, and manage patients’ overall oral health care needs, including gum care, root canals, fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, and preventive education. 

Happily married with a daughter, Dr. MacDonald enjoys spending time with her family and friends in Ottawa and Fort Myers, skiing, and practicing her considerable culinary skills.
