The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1972, when he earned his medical degree from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, New York in 1975, followed by his residency at EHS Christ Hospital & Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois in 1979. Two years later, in June of 1981, he completed his fellowship training at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital in Hines, Illinois. 

Thereafter, Dr. D’Souza became board-certified in both internal medicine and pulmonary medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
