    Dr. Young earned his degrees at the University of Southern California, receiving his Doctorate of Education (EdD) in 2012 and a Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Masters of Science Gerontology (MSG) in 1998. His areas of specialty include homelessness, veterans issues, comorbid health and mental health issues, gerontology, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, children and families, clinical supervision, and program audits/quality assurance. His research interests are related to ADHD in Chinese-American populations. 

    Dr. Young is board certified in clinical social work. He has extensive professional training and experience working with individuals (infancy through older adults), couples and families from varying socio-economic-demographic backgrounds. 

    Clinical Social Work is a specialty practice area of social work which focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioral disturbances. Individual, group and family therapy are common treatment modalities. 

    During his extensive time in the field, Dr. Young has spent time working with the Downtown Mental Health Center serving the Skid Row area, as well as a supervising psychiatric social worker at the Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall Mental Health Unit and the Compton-West Specialized Foster Care Program helping the inmates and the homeless.
