Dr. Spaulding is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and an Osteopathic physician. He is the only glaucoma specialist at the Institute. Before his medical career he served as a firefighter with the US Forest Service. He joined the Institute in 2018 and his special training includes the methodology and techniques of minimally invasive techniques to treat glaucoma.
He has a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) combined with cataract surgery, and refractive cataract surgery with premium lenses.

How do you get rid of eye strain?
Depends on what's the cause of the eye strain. If you are having problems right when you start looking at the computer you need to be checked for glasses or other anatomical problems. If the string gets worse while you're working on the computer I recommend trying artificial tears. The eye likes to dry out when you stare at a device computer or book for long periods of time. After any surgery to any part of the body, there's always a risk of pain, infection, and bleeding; it is a common response from the body. You may possibly be feeling the incision site or the potential inflammation from the actual surgery itself. If the pain does not seem right to you, you need to see your ophthalmologist immediately. Can glaucoma be cured from surgery?
There are no cures for glaucoma. There are only treatments. Glaucoma is always trying to come back. But it all truly depends on your physical exam. Some forms of glaucoma do better with surgery, some do better with laser, and some do better with drops. I recommend you see a local ophthalmologist. READ MORE
What happens if you wear contacts for more than 8 hours?
You can wear the contacts for as long as you want. But please do not sleep in them. Sometimes your eye may become drier if you wear them for long periods of time. It's always worth your while to take a holiday from your contacts if you can. READ MORE

Are contact lenses good for eyes?
There's nothing wrong with contact lenses. Just make sure you are fit properly. And please do not sleep in the contacts no matter what the box says. Sleeping in contacts is probably one of the more dangerous things you can do. READ MORE

Hi, Eye pressure is not common after cataract surgery, but it is completely possible. Most commonly the pressure will come down on its own. Your doctor may recommend using drops or taking pills until it does come back to normal levels. Make sure you continue to follow up closely with your doctor. READ MORE

If a patient has floaters in the eyes they need to be checked by an ophthalmologist. Floaters can be an early sign of retinal tears and retinal detachments which are very serious conditions. READ MORE

It really depends on whatever you're most comfortable in. If the eyes feel irritated after a day of wearing the contacts, I would recommend the glasses. READ MORE
