Get to know Acupuncturist Dr. Fotios Sardelis, who serves patients in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Sardelis is a licensed acupuncturist who practices Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture with a focus on pain management. He is the owner & operator of Anthos Acupuncture and Herbal Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. 

As such, he serves as the principal treating practitioner, providing care at various levels such as treating the patient directly, recommending herbs and supplements, recommending rehabilitative services, performing pain relieving procedures, counseling patients, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and providing consultative services. 

Offering gentle therapies that encourage resilience and longevity with personal attention, some of the conditions that he treats include: headache, hypertension, sprain, depression, knee pain, morning sickness, stomach ache, fatigue, stress, fertility, insomnia, nausea and vomiting, neck pain, postoperative pain, rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica, tennis elbow, allergic rhinitis, gout, facial pain (TMJ problems), and others. 

Academically, Dr. Sardelis holds a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree and his Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Texas Health and Science University.

A member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the doctor is certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The NCCAOM is a non-profit organization in the United States that aims to “establish, assess, and promote recognized standards of competence and safety in acupuncture and Oriental medicine for the protection and benefit of the public.”

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a technique in which thin needles are inserted into the body and in some cases, electro-stimulation is applied to gently stimulate particular regions of the body. Acupuncture is also used to maintain general health and well-being. Acupuncturists treat a variety of physical and psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain, digestive disorders, and infertility.
