Get to know Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist Dr. Mary Ellen Pavone, who serves patients in Chicago, Illinois.

Recognized as a top reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, Dr. Pavone works at Northwestern Medicine Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She is the Medical Director of In Vitro Fertilization & the Director of Reproductive Tissue Library.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Pavone graduated with her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in 2003. She then went on to perform her residency at Johns Hopkins University in 2007, followed by her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in 2010.

With an unwavering commitment to her speciality, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & reproductive endocrinology and infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.

Professionally, Dr. Pavone is on medical staff at Central DuPage Hospital, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She also serves as an Associate Professor within the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Her research interests include improving surgical outcomes in infertility patients, optimizing IVF outcomes, fertility preservation, and endometriosis.

Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to the reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside after the reproductive years.

Among Dr. Pavone’s most notable achievements include: Excellence in Teaching Medical Students; Clinical Reproductive Scientist Training Scholars Program; Goldberg Travel Award; and APGO Medical Education Foundation Scholars Award.
