Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Umar Rashid, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

Dr. Rashid is a highly trained, New York-based interventional cardiologist. In collaboration with Northwell Health, he is affiliated with the following hospitals: Lenox Hill Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital, Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, and Staten Island University Hospital.

As for his academic title, he serves as an Assistant Professor at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

With a solid educational background, Dr. Rashid graduated with his medical degree from the Medical College at Aga Khan University in Pakistan. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic, followed by his fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Furthermore, Dr. Rashid is a Diplomate of the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and the National Board of Echocardiography.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American Heart Association.

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. An interventional cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions and diseases of the heart and blood vessels using nonsurgical, catheter-based procedures and specialized imaging techniques.

On a more personal note, Dr. Rashid speaks multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu, and Italian.
