Get to know Colorectal Surgeon Dr. Jeffrey P. Snow, who serves patients in Florida.

An experienced colorectal surgeon, Dr. Snow is affiliated with South Florida Surgical Specialists, LLC, seeing patients in Pembroke Pines and Plantation, Florida. He specializes in anorectal surgery, colonoscopy, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer, laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, hernia surgery, and gallbladder surgery.

Established in 2007 with just 14 surgical specialists in six convenient locations, South Florida Surgical Specialists, LLC (SFSS) is an integrated network that has grown and is currently comprised of over 50 surgical and medical private practitioner specialists, with over 30 locations throughout the South Florida region. With offices from Lake City to Miami, SFSS physicians specialize in general, orthopedic, laparoscopic, colon, rectal, vascular, breast, bariatric, and head & neck surgeries. They have recently expanded their private practitioner network to include medical physicians.

Graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Snow earned his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his internship at the New England Deaconess Hospital and his residency at Albany Medical Center. He then did a fellowship in colon & rectal surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in colon & rectal surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues certificates for practitioners of colorectal surgery.

Moreover, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Snow is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

On a professional level, he is a member of multiple surgical societies, including the International College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Physician Executives.

A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Snow has spent his entire professional career in South Florida. Active in hospital medical staff leadership throughout his career, he has served on many committees for the Memorial Healthcare System and is past Chief of Staff at Memorial Pembroke Hospital.

As for his academic appointments, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Florida International University. He assists in the training of both medical students and physician assistants through didactic lectures, procedure labs and direct patient care. He has travelled around the country lecturing on general surgery and colon and rectal topics.

Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. The field is also known as proctology, but this term is now used infrequently within medicine and is most often employed to identify practices relating to the anus and rectum in particular. A colorectal surgeon is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of anorectal and colorectal conditions (conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus).

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Snow has been named one of America’s Top Surgeons three years in a row, and was honored as one of Miami Metro Magazine’s Best Doctors in South Florida four years in a row.
