  • Osteoclasis vs Metatarsal head resectionPurpose:Plantar distal metatarsal pressure commonly causes calluses in the foot and can lead to ulcerations in diabetics with neuropathy. Metatarsal osteotomies can be performed to reduce the plantar pressure caused by the prominence of the plantar metatarsal head by elevating the distal metatarsal. Metatarsal head resection is also utilized to remove distal sub-metatarsal pressure as an offloading technique to heal pressure ulcers. The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of a metatarsal osteotomy, specifically utilizing the osteoclasis technique, versus a metatarsal head resection (MHR) in healing distal metatarsal plantar ulcers.
