Chance of serious complication from anesthesia?
Everyday hundreds of thousands of people are "put under" for surgery. Yes, it is extremely safe, in fact it is over 50 times safer than getting into your vehicle and driving. Most common complications are sore throat and nausea. The more co-morbities or medical health problems you have slightly increases the risk. But only slightly, like 1-2%. If the answer is yes, you are in good hands. READ MORE
Elective Surgery- Anesthesia and Adderall?
No need to stop for 30 days before. I would just stop it one day before surgery and then continue your adder all that afternoon after surgery. Sometimes surgeons do not understand how certain medications work and are afraid of the car being cancelled by the anesthesiologist. So, they say to stop it. However, I have never cancelled a case because of Adderall, and never had a complication from it. You can also call the hospital and ask for the Anesthesia department to ask about their policy on Adderall. Each institution has their own guidelines. READ MORE
