How long will it take to overcome alcohol addiction?
This is a great question. The answer depends on a few things: 1) How long the addictive use alcohol has been going on 2) How much and how frequently you use alcohol currently (in the last year) 3) How committed you are to making changes 4) What kinds of resources (time, money, social support) you currently have Generally speaking, the best way to get started is to explore a combination of individual therapy and/or family therapy alongside an outpatient program, 12-step community program, or other group therapy option. Research shows that getting both personalized and collective care is the best antidote to addiction. Motivation also matters a lot, so do your best to really think about why it is important for you to make changes and confront the addition. Good luck in your healing journey, Dr. Forest READ MORE
