Get to know Trauma Surgeon Dr. Thomas P. Davis, who serves patients in New Bern, North Carolina.

Dr. Davis is an experienced trauma surgeon with over three decades of experience in his field. He is affiliated with CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina.

Opening as the “ultra-modern” 100-bed Craven County Hospital in 1963, the 21st century CarolinaEast Medical Center is a 350-bed, multi-facility healthcare provider to the coastal Carolina region. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Davis earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the National Capital Consortium.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes both operative and non-operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in an acute setting. A trauma surgeon is a highly trained and specialized medical care professional who performs emergency surgeries on patients suffering from acute injuries and illnesses. They generally complete residency training in general surgery and often fellowship training in trauma or surgical critical care.
