Get to know Pathologist Dr. Yongling Bian, who serves patients in Wilmington, Delaware.

A board-certified pathologist, Dr. Bian works with patients at Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants in Wilmington, Delaware, joining the practice in 2014. She provides substantial experience and expertise in diagnostic surgical pathology and cytopathology, and has a special interest in fine needle aspiration cytology.

Allied Diagnostic Pathology Consultants provides pathology processing services at several of the local outpatient surgical centers. It is comprised of highly skilled, board-certified pathologists who have expertise in the area of dermatological, breast, gynecological, gastrointestinal, hemato, and hepatic pathology.

After receiving her medical degree from Anhwei Medical School, China, Dr. Bian completed her residency in pathology at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She performed her fellowship in cytopathology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.

Among her previous academic appointments, she has been a faculty member at the Thomas Jefferson Medical College. She has also presented in national and international conferences and her research has been published in various professional journals.

Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and in some cases, the whole body. Pathologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and management of diseases by laboratory methods.
