  • Dr. Bangle has long had a passion for working with people having disabilities which continually informs and motivates her work. Growing up with a father who is a biomedical device engineer gave her unique insight into the daily life experiences people with disability or chronic medical conditions have. From time spent volunteering teaching children with disabilities how to swim, to teaching riding lessons as part of an equine therapy program, and later working as a summer camp counselor for a recreational sports camp for people with disabilities, Dr. Bangle's genuine interest in the human experience regardless of ability pushes her to want everyone to live the highest quality of life possible.

Teaching and speaking

  • Dr. Bangle offers speaking engagements and lecturing on a variety of psychological topics aimed at enhancing the patient-provider relationship. She has previously lectured on topics such as effective communication strategies for physicians working with patients having chronic pain, educational techniques for enhancing the patient understanding of complex medical information, assessing cognitive functioning and decision making during gathering of patient informed consent, the role of rehabilitation psychology in integrative medical care models, and suicide safety and risk assessment during medical appointments.

Dr. Bangle maintains an interest in clinical research on adjustment to illness and disability, posttraumatic growth, & rehabilitation intervention outcomes.  She has previously collaborated as part of an NIH funded grant for a clinical trial testing a cortical visual prosthesis called the "ICVP".  She has also explored the experiences of people using assistive devices like robitic prothestic limbs and wheelchairs, contributing to user informed device design and development.  While she now focuses much of her time on private practice, Dr. Bangle continues to seek opportunities for consultation and collaboration in the area of user informed design, clinical trial informed consent, and rehabilitation intervention outcomes research.
