Get to know Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Aaron Kime, who serves patients in California.

Dr. Kime is a highly-trained surgeon with specific areas of interest including open and endovascular treatment of complex aortic disease, coronary surgery, mitral valve surgery, arrhythmia surgery, and all other facets of adult cardiac care.

A Chicagoland native, Dr. Kime grew up in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Rush Medical College, graduating as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. 

Furthering his training, he completed an integrated cardiothoracic surgery residency and fellowship at the University of Southern California. 

Board-certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery, Dr. Kime is a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). The ABTS is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

On a professional level, he is an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Medical Association, and the Chicago Medical Society.

Cardiac surgery is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and surgical treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiac surgeons are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
