Get to know Pediatrician Dr. John Bruyere, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Bruyere is a trusted pediatrician with CommuniCare Health Centers – West Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. His special interests include health disparities, immigrant health, preventative health, headaches, depression/anxiety, and ADHD.

CommuniCare’s West Clinic offers an array of services including pediatrics, adult medicine, women’s health, senior care, dental, and behavioral health. Its mission is “to improve the health of those we serve with a commitment to excellence in all we do.”

From Northbridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Bruyere graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2005. He then went on to earn his Master of Arts degree from Boston University in 2009 and his medical degree from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in 2016. 

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Florida (Pensacola) from 2016 until 2019.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Bruyere is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Bruyere enjoys spending time with family, traveling, trying new foods, doing physical fitness, as well as serving as an advocate and volunteering. He speaks both English and Spanish.
