An established pediatric endocrinologist, Dr. Palau-Collazo sees patients at the Pediatric Endocrine and Metabolic Center of Florida. She specializes in treating children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, pituitary disorders, growth disorders such as short stature, puberty disorders (early or late puberty), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, disorders of calcium and Vitamin D metabolism, and certain syndromes such as Turner Syndrome, Noonan’s Syndrome and Klinefelter Syndrome among others.
The Pediatric Endocrine and Metabolic Center of Florida is a state-of-the-art facility, treating children and adolescents with endocrine and metabolic conditions. Academically, Dr. Palau-Collazo graduated summa cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, and completed her residency in pediatrics at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center. She then went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Yale-New Haven Hospital / Yale School of Medicine.
During her fellowship, she participated in multiple research projects with type 1 diabetes including research on the artificial pancreas. She volunteers and is an active board member of the Greater Palm Beach Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Chapter (JDRF).
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Pediatric endocrinology is a medical subspecialty dealing with disorders of the endocrine glands, such as variations of physical growth and sexual development in childhood, diabetes, and many more.
