As a dual board-certified physician in hospice and palliative medicine and family medicine at Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Murphy brings a wealth of expertise and compassion to his practice in Phoenix, Arizona. His clinical focus encompasses the expert management of symptoms associated with chronic illnesses, emphasizing the importance of patient and family involvement in decision-making.

As a valuable member of Mayo Clinic's interdisciplinary palliative medicine team, he navigates complex medical scenarios with empathy and understanding, ensuring that each patient's unique goals of care are honored. One of his innovative approaches includes the use of Scrambler Therapy, a neuromodulation technique, to alleviate Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, offering a novel solution to a challenging condition.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Murphy completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a residency in family medicine from St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center (Creighton University School of Medicine), and received his medical degree from the St. George's University School of Medicine. 

On a professional level, he is an active member of multiple prestigious medical organizations, including the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, the North American Neuromodulation Society, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.

Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Murphy is deeply committed to medical education. He serves as a mentor to medical students, residents, and fellows, sharing his knowledge and fostering the growth of future healthcare professionals.  Additionally, Dr. Murphy serves as a core faculty member for the Mayo Clinic Arizona Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship. 

An authority in his field, his dedication to teaching and leadership has been recognized through awards such as the Resident Teaching Scholar Award from Creighton University School of Medicine. His commitment to excellence and compassion in patient care and medical education continues to inspire those around him.
