  • Can a chiropractor damage your spine?

You are much more likely to have your spine damaged by a well meaning friend, or yourself, for that matter, than to suffer damage from the subtle, well trained hands of a licensed chiropractor. Rotation of the neck, especially in extension, is frequently invoked in stroke claims. For at least 30 years there have been techniques taught which permit adjustment in neutral. I have come to prefer Activator for delivering the force, but regardless of that, what you are paying for is the expertise involved. READ MORE

  • When I move my neck I hear a cracking sound. Is it okay?

Any joint will make a "crack" when its surfaces go from fitting together perfectly to a condition which generates a vacuum. • Lumbar injections

Three weeks of low back pain, in a 58 yo man, especially a Type II diabetic, especially if using drugs to reduce blood sugar while maintaining a habitual high carbohydrate diet, should be no surprise. Taking a finger stick test daily provides useful information. Now, if a person allows themselves to become dehydrated, this could aggravate existing marginal kidney issues. Kidney issues are famously painful. Drinking a gallon a day of pure (RO, distilled) water every day, or attempting to, after a week or so tests for dehydration. This leaves the musculoskeletal issues for which you should consult your chiropractor. READ MORE

  • Back ache

There are several; causes of low back pain..One frequently overlooked issue is that a subluxation of the joint between the base of the skull and the top of the neck produces a global distortion of the overall posture. My own sciatica dating back almost 50 years resolved only after successful correction of the upper cervicals. Once that was corrected, and after a few weeks of adaptation, my low back became much less of a problem. Consult with a local Upper Cervical specialist. Blair upper cervical and NUCCA are two named techniques I have practiced. READ MORE

  • How do you fix a stiff lower back?

Have him attempt cat and camel movement. That'll help localize the complaint. In our office, upper cervical issues are frequently found important. Is there neck pain/stiffness? READ MORE

  • Are backbends good for your spine?

It depends. If you have a straight lower spine, doing back bends will encourage extension in the low back. If you were a gymnast, contortionist, or in general, a very flexible person, back bends may induce excessive movement in some segments, producing facet joint pain. If you manage to damage a disc, flexing forward to the limit of "touch your toes", the disc damage can be worsened. Mild movements, lightweight and careful attention to form on each exercise you do are worthwhile. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor fix my neck hump?

A hump in the middle of the neck likely reflects a loss or even reversal of the cervical curve. Carrying your head forward of the shoulders likely goes with the hump. A chiropractor who emphasizes the top of the neck can help this. My favored method is Blair, butr NUCCA,, and Kale are also effective. READ MORE

Dr. Woolery is an experienced chiropractor practicing alongside Dr. Dorrin B. Rosenfeld, DC, at their practice - State of the Art Chiropractic - located in Vallejo, California.

“Our mission at State of the Art Chiropractic is simply to serve you. We provide excellent chiropractic care to help our patients reach and exceed their health goals. We assess the patient as a whole. We want to address the main concern, but also lead you into a lifestyle of being pain free. We do all of this by offering an evidence-based approach to chiropractic care by utilizing chiropractic manipulation, soft-tissue techniques, therapeutic rehabilitation, and a variety of chiropractic services to help achieve your health goals” as stated on their website.

Following the family tradition of becoming a PipeFitter/Welder for the Pipe Trades, Dr. Woolery was happily living with that until he was in his early forties. It suddenly dawned upon him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He entered Chiropractic School, graduating with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West in 1992, and unexpectedly found the key to unlock the dysfunctions that remained with him after a head-on car injury that occurred when he was 10 years old.

Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, vertigo and a long list of other ailments and conditions. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself naturally, without the use of medication or surgery.
