  • Throat pain?

This does not appear to be a strep throat. This looks like an ulceration of the uvula. Many things can cause this including a burn from hot food, trauma from something bumping into it, infections or others. It will be important to ensure that this resolves. If it goes away on its own within 1-2 weeks, there is likely nothing to be concerned about. If however it persists or worsens it should be evaluated in person by a doctor. READ MORE

  • Sinus pressure?

While this may be sinus pressure, it certainly can be secondary to your Covid diagnosis itself. If the pain continues beyond 7-10 days please discuss this with your doctor as you may benefit from an antibiotic to treat a possible bacterial sinus infection. READ MORE

  • Large knot on ear?

It is possible that this is an infection of the saliva gland (parotid) but it also may be something more concerning. I would strongly advise for this to be evaluated by a doctor in person. READ MORE

  • Does non-antihistamine medicine exist?

Nasal steroid spray (such as Fluticasone) is an excellent alternative. There are even nasal antihistamine sprays (such as azelastine) that should not be a problem for your allergy testing. READ MORE

  • Feeling of hair in throat?

Sometimes when something gets stuck in the throat it can continue to feel unusual for a while afterwards. This feeling is termed globus sensation and it can be quite disturbing! If it continues to bother you going forward, the ENT doctor can evaluate it with a flexible camera (endoscope) to ensure that nothing concerning is present. READ MORE

  • Can a tooth infection cause earache?

Earaches can commonly occur from problems in other areas of the head and neck. TMJ as well as throat lesions or infections are common causes of "referred" ear pain due to nerves that connect the 2 sites. Dental pain can certainly cause earaches as well. READ MORE

  • nasal adenoid surgery

Adenoids commonly grow back to some extent after surgery especially in childhood. Your dry mucus can be from a number of things, best discussed comprehensively with your ENT doctor. READ MORE

  • How long does tonsillectomy take with general anesthesia?

  • Are there any natural treatments for chronic tonsillitis?

If your tonsils are infected with bacteria such as strep throat, your body may be able to fight the infection on its own. However, we still recommend treating it with antibiotics since there are variants of strep that can cause complications if untreated such as rheumatic heart disease. If you have chronic tonsillitis many times per year over a number of years, you may want to talk to an ENT about the risks and benefits of getting your tonsils removed (tonsillectomy). READ MORE

  • Sinus infection?

I am happy to hear the sinus infection is improving. A nasal decongestant (like Afrin) should actually only be used for a a few days in a row to avoid rebound congestion. You certainly do not need to continue using a decongestant. Regarding the hoarseness, that may be due to a viral infection or post-nasal drip. If it continues for more than a few weeks you should see an ENT in office for further evaluation. READ MORE
