Dr. Jefferson is an experienced leader with a demonstrated history of working in the military and public health industry. She is skilled in veterinary medicine, disaster medicine, epidemiology, government, and emergency management.
Since September of 2019, Dr. Jefferson has been serving as the Chief of Comparative Pathology at the Air Force Research Laboratory and 711th Human Performance Wing/ Airman Systems Directorate. She works within the Bioeffects Division (RHD), Veterinary Science Branch, and the Tri-Service Research Laboratory in Fort Sam Houston.
With a solid educational background, Dr. Jefferson graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1999. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.
Thereafter, Dr. Jefferson attained a Certificate of Residency in Veterinary Pathology and Pathobiology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
With a passion for her field, she is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (DACVP). DACVPs are veterinarians who successfully complete the ACVP certifying examination and are accepted into the organization as diplomates.
