Get to know Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Susan G. Roux, who serves patients in Monterey, California.

Dr. Roux is a dedicated diagnostic radiologist with a focus on breast imaging and intervention. One of her most significant achievements is her involvement in establishing the Carol Hatton Breast Care Center, a top-tier breast cancer treatment center serving the Monterey Peninsula. Her deep-seated passion for clinical interactions with patients and the problem-solving dimension of medical imaging directed her towards this impactful career path.

In Dr. Roux’s view, quality healthcare revolves around a profound understanding of patients’ needs and concerns, and she prioritizes delivering care in a sensitive and empathetic manner. She is passionate about the life-saving advantages of breast cancer screening and remains committed to advocating for its crucial role in healthcare.

Beginning her academic and professional voyage at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Roux pursued her Medical School education and graduated in 1979. Subsequently, in 1980, she embarked on her internship at Hennepin County Medical Center. Her medical training culminated with her residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic in 1983. 

As a testament of her continued education, Dr. Roux attained board certification in both diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 1984. The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

On a professional level, Dr. Roux is an active member of the Radiologic Society of North America, the Roentgen Ray Society, the American Society of Breast Disease, the Society for Breast Imaging. the Los Angeles Radiological Society, the Orange County Radiological Society, the American Association of University Women, the American Medical Association, and the Monterey County Medical Association.

Diagnostic radiology is a medical specialization that involves undertaking a range of imaging procedures to obtain images of the inside of the body. A radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options.

In her spare time, Dr. Roux enjoys vacations that involve touring on a bicycle.
